This 1989 Tudor Oysterdate 79170, ref 94200 is a true collector's piece and is in stunning original condition. The early Tudor Chronograph references are commonly referred to as the Tudor "Big Blocks" as the mid-case size is thicker and heavier than the big brother Rolex Daytona references. Among Tudor Big Blocks, these are scarcer first series (ref. 9400) are the most highly collected. By the time the second series (ref. 79100) was released, Tudor had confidently entered the era of mass production. This Big Block 79170 came with the 12-hour rotating bezel. In this generation, the case, bracelet, and crown are all Rolex-signed. This changed shortly after in the 79100 series. This example takes things a step further with a light patina, where its white sub-dials registers have begun to change to a champagne tone. CASE & BRACELET The case has retained its original luster, retaining full lugs with factory chamfers still prevalent. The rotating bezel is in excellent condition and remains a deep black coloration showing no wear. The screw down pushers and Rolex signed trip lock crown are original to the watch. The Rolex 78360 Oyster Bracelet with the 589 End Pieces and Clasp (Code M6) remains unpolished showing some wear and light stretch. All 12 original links are present. DIAL & HANDS The matte black dial with white sub-dials is flawless. All of the lume plot are present and remain intact, exhibiting some minor degradation.
