Description
My Father, John Vahey attended United States Marine Corps (USMC) training at Camp LeJeune, NC during the Korean War. He purchased this USMC Leather Bound Service Album at the Camp LeJeune Marine Corps Exchange. When my father died in May 1999, I received all his USMC service items. I retained all his USMC memorabilia for nearly 25 years. Since my wife and I recently relocated from Manassas, VA to Fort Myers, FL we no longer have the space to display or indefinitely store all his USMC items. Subsequently, I have decided to begin posting these items for sale on eBay. The next item for sale on eBay is this USMC Leather Bound Service Album With Black & White Photos from 1951. The front cover of the USMC Leather Bound Service Album is shown in the first attached high-resolution photograph . The album’s cover has some minor wear, but still maintains its vibrant colors. The raised USMC Insignia attached to the lower left-hand side of the cover has some minor patina. The album’ s length is 11 inches wide, and its height is 7 inches high. The album was stored in a large paper folder and stored in a sealed plastic container. The rear cover of the USMC Leather Bound Service Album is shown in the second attached high-resolution photograph . The rear side of the album’s front cover is shown in the third attached high-resolution photograph . The first inside page is shown on the right side of the album is the “DOMAIN OF NEPTUNES REX” as shown in the fourth attached high-resolution photograph . Although the page is separated from the center spines by three punch holes the page is still completely readable and has a round gold seal with sharp edges on the bottom right corner. Note: The left side of the page has some curled edges as exhibited in the photograph. The next page shown vertically is “MY LOG AND DIARY” which was left blank as shown in the fifth attached high-resolution photograph . There are six more pages (front and back) that contain blank MY LOG AND DIARY sheets. Note: The page shows aging and the 3 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches square outline of the photographs pasted on the adjacent page as shown in the sixth attached high-resolution photograph . The first black photograph album page is shown in the seventh attached high-resolution photograph . My father is captured in the first picture on the left-hand side. He is seated on the right next to another unknown Marine. My father pasted two pictures on each black page as shown in the eighth through fourteenth attached high-resolution photographs . The next black photograph album page contains three pictures as shown in the fifteenth attached high-resolution photograph. The smaller picture in the bottom left corner measures 3 1/2 inches long and 2 1/2 inches high. The next black photograph album page contains two pictures as shown in the sixteenth attached high-resolution photograph . The next black photograph album page contains three pictures as shown in the seventeenth attached high-resolution photograph. The last two pictures are shown on the album’s right side in the eighteenth attached high-resolution photograph. The photograph on the right contains my father (right) and my uncle (left). My father wrote in blue ink the following text “Bob” and “Me” under their respective picture. The remaining 25 (back-to-back) black album pages are blank as exhibited in the nineteenth attached high-resolution photograph . There are a total of 26 black and white photographs: 21 photographs (3 ½ inches wide by 3 ½ inches high) ; 2 photographs (3 ½ inches wide by 2 ½ inches high); 1 photograph (3 ¼ inches wide by 4 ¼ inches high); 1 photograph (3 ¼ inches wide by 3 ¼ inches high) and 1 photograph (2 ½ inches wide by 3 inches high). As exhibited in the previous photographs, this album is in very good condition for being over 70 years old. This album would be a great addition for any Marine, military enthusiast, novice or professional military collector. Note: Photographs are an important part of my description; please review all photographs before purchasing. If my photographs and or description are lacking something of importance, please ask questions prior to purchasing. Thanks!
